The songs of Rub the Lamp are nothing more than a tribute to the work of some personalities from the artistic and scientific world whose works we consider to be of interest and value, such as Carlos Fuentes, Remedios Varo, Ingmar Bergman, Giordano Bruno and Jacobo Grinberg. This album was published on September 8, 2022 under the Progesencia México label
.- Ixca, is a tribute to the work of the Mexican/Panamanian writer, Carlos Fuentes (1928-2012). Ixca Cienfuegos was the central character of the first novel published by this author, The Most Transparent Region, a novel that appeared in 1958.
.- Night Bird, refers to the beautiful surreal painting, The Creation of Birds, made in 1957 by the great Catalan painter, Remedios Varo (1908-1963). It is our particular idealized perspective on the destiny of the bird-woman who paints pictures of birds that come to life.
.- The Hour of the Wolf, is an exercise to which we were led by reflections after viewing the film of the same name, made in 1968, by the great Swedish director, Ingmar Bergman (1918-2007). Very disturbing film due to its claustrophobic nature and its inexhaustible use of symbols. It has been said repeatedly that Bergman's cinema confronts us with our own internal demons, perhaps for this reason many people do not like his cinema.
.- Flowers Field, tries to introduce us to the thoughts that may have haunted the Italian philosopher, poet and essayist, Filippo "Giordano" Bruno (1548-1600), prior to his execution on his way to the stake on charges of heresy, as well as some of the dialogues that he held as a defense before the judges of the Roman inquisition. Flower Field is the name of the square in Rome where the scaffold was set up where this great character was burned. His ideas on astronomy, without having been an astronomer, were invaluable to scientists like Kepler and Galileo and from them to the world. On the other hand, he deludedly tried to get the Church of Rome to try to reform its doctrines and policies. This song is sung by Jaime García.
.- Rub the lamp, the song that gives the title to this work, arose from a dream, around the year 2001, where a bone lamp was rubbed and a genius appeared warning that there should always be great prudence in what is requested in this life.
.- Wrong way, is a melody where credits are shared with our friend, the guitarist Diego García and the contribution of part of the lyrics by César M. Granados. This song refers to another old idea that emerged in the mid-90's; which, to a certain extent, reminds both the myth of Orpheus and some passages of hell from the incomparable work of Dante Alighieri.
.- Syntergy, a song with touches of Funk that closes the work. This term was coined by the prestigious Mexican psychologist, Jacobo Grinberg, to name his central theory, which is a mix between Synthesis and Energy, a theory that postulates that neuronal energy fields can be created that in turn can influence other neural fiels. In his theory, he also handled the concept that we live in a matrix that can be modified at will. Dr. Grinberg mysteriously disappeared in 1994, and there are a large number of theories on this matter, from conspiracy theories such as the CIA, alien abduction, Mexican Governación, The DDT, etc., to some more earthly ones such as personal revenge or voluntary retirement to study with the shamans. The thing is, the Dr. is still missing.
